Rwanda tourism week- Rwanda like many countries in the world is seeking different options to rebuild its tourism sector after the effects of the coronavirus that impacted Rwanda safaris. As one way to help rebuild the country’s tourism industry, Rwanda tourism week is set for November 26th 2022. This remarkable news comes following a briefing from the Director General of the Rwanda Chamber of Tourism (Frank Gisha Mugisha) to the media.
The theme for the 2022 Rwanda tourism week will be “adopting innovative approaches to boost intra-Africa travel as a drive for tourism recovery.” This is aimed at rebuilding the tourism sector as the African continent recovers from the impacts of Corona Virus.
According to the Director General of the Rwanda Chamber of Tourism, 2022 tourism week’s theme will focus on rebuilding the country’s tourism sector after 2 years of tough times that heavily hit it. To achieve this, a vision and long-term goals will be set to help strengthen the country’s tourism industry.
The 2022 tourism week in Rwanda will mark its second phase and it is expected to attract over 2000 local and international delegates across 15 states worldwide. The Rwanda tourism week will begin with a photography competition to help storytellers showcase the country’s diverse tourist attractions, and breathtaking sceneries through photography, and more. All this is aimed at creating awareness on Rwanda as a tourism destination.
Different activities will also be conducted during the long Rwanda tourism week. These include familiarization trips where the invited participants and international tour operators will sample tourism products for Rwanda and explore more about this charming country. Restaurant week offers an opportunity for diners to enjoy and experience the classic service from the country’s leading restaurants at a discounted rate.
The fashion show will provide insight into Rwanda’s unique innovation, especially its popular local and regional clothing brands.
The managing director of Ikaze PCO -Brenda Nyakira, an event managing company in Kigali that is planning the fashion event and the exhibition, added that sustainability is their main focus. She added that fashion is a very strong part of tourism, a reason fashion show and exhibition was incorporated into the long Rwanda tourism week. To make the day remarkable, they will be collaborating with the most established fashion houses from West Africa as they mingle with Rwandan brands.
Gold for conservation will be part of 2022 Rwanda tourism week and it will be showcasing Rwanda’s tourism and hospitality products. Besides, the national tourism chamber will also be holding the first of its kind international business forum and the forum brings together actors from the tourism sector, specialists and experts, the leaders of key local & regional businesses as well as financial institutions plus organizations. This is aimed at strengthening and boosting the country’s tourism sector’s economic recovery.
The Rwanda tourism week will end with a memorable gala dinner where key stakeholders and business operators in the tourism sector will be awarded for their incredible service delivery. The expected outcomes of the tourism week in Rwanda include increased domestic, regional, and continental trade connections, and job creation with over 100 people expected to get employed. In 2021, the Rwanda tourism week took 3 days and over 200 delegates attended.
