During the game drive in Lake Mburo National Park, expect to see the diversity of wildlife in this acacia and savanna grassland-dominated protected area, also Uganda’s most accessible National Park from the heart of Kampala. Among the numerous species of animals to see here include elands, topis, impalas, klipspringer, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, bushbucks, leopards, warthogs, hyenas, jackals and more.

A boat cruise session will have you exposed to Lake Mburo National Park’s abundant aquatic species. These include hippos, crocodiles, and water birds. Detailed Itinerary –6 Days Bwindi Gorillas & Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Pick up at the Airport & drive to the hotel in Entebbe/Kampala

Today, your driver guide will be waiting for you at Entebbe International Airport (EBB). On landing and after clearing, you will proceed to the pre-booked accommodation in Entebbe city for relaxation.

Day 2: Transfer from Entebbe or Kampala via Masaka route to Lake Mburo National Park

Early morning after having a delicious cup of tea/coffee, meet your driver guide for a warm greeting and later get a short briefing. It is during this session that you will be briefed on what you should expect on your journey and the entire 6 days Bwindi gorillas & wildlife safari. Today’s briefing will be done by the company driver/safari guide.

After the briefing, leave the hotel in Entebbe or in Kampala for an actual road trip to Lake Mburo National Park in western Uganda. Lake Mburo Park is one of the smallest protected areas and is endowed with more than 68 mammal species.

Getting to Lake Mburo National Park will involve navigating via the Masaka-Mbarara route in a classic 4×4 safari vehicle. En route, a stopover will be had at the Equator crossing in Kayabwe –have enough time to take pictures and there is an alternative of performing a water experiment.

From the equator crossing in Kayabwe, continue to Lake Mburo National Park in Kiruhura to check in your accommodation. Have a relaxed evening while you embrace the natural beauty in the surroundings in the comfort of your lodge.

Day 3: A Game drive early morning & boat cruise in the afternoon

Leave your accommodation for an early morning game drive through Lake Mburo National Park. You will explore one of the enriching game tracks in this park, and expect to find zebras, the Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, diversity of antelope families including elands, topis, oribis, waterbucks, bushbucks, and more.

Today’s game drive will go for 2-3 hours and after, you will have a lunch break at the lodge. In the afternoon, you will return to enjoy a guided boat cruise on Lake Mburo. On the Lake Mburo launch cruise, expect to come across hippos, crocodiles, and water birds. In the evening after a long day of activities, you will have a relaxed stay and dinner at the lodge.

Day 4: Pick up & transfer from Lake Mburo National Park to Bwindi

Have a hefty breakfast then you will check out from the respective lodges. Today, you will have a transfer from Lake Mburo National Park to Bwindi National Park in Southwestern Uganda. It will be an enriching road trip characterized by scenic views of the countryside’s rolling hills, extensive banana plantations, and more.

Arrive at Bwindi National Park early for you to check in your accommodation. You will be dropped off at a place of stay near the region/sector where you will begin your gorilla trekking the next day.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking & Batwa cultural experience

Enjoy a hefty breakfast early in the morning and after, be ready to be transferred to the park offices for briefing. The park official from Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) will take you through the gorilla trekking rules/regulations, allocate a gorilla group for you to trek, and the park guides to lead you. Each group of gorillas will be visited by a maximum of 8 (eight) guests and each will be led by the park guide.

The Bwindi gorilla trek will go for 2-6 hours and involves navigating via the natural forest. On locating a family of massive mountain gorillas chilling or foraging, expect to stay with them for an hour. The park guide will explain the unique behaviors and also interpret the body gestures of these apes for you.

After the gorilla trek, you will be accompanied back to where your trek started and an official from UWA will give you a gorilla trekking certificate. From here, continue to the lodge to have a relaxed evening, and dinner, and later, retire for a night stay.

Day 6: Departure from Bwindi for Kampala or Entebbe

After a hefty breakfast, expect to check out of the lodge and today, you will be setting off to Kampala/Entebbe. En route to Entebbe/Kampala, expect to have lunch around Mbarara or Igongo Cultural Village.
