Think before you travel – Travel advice

I know this may sound ridiculous to many but the truth is that some tourists just embark on their trip before getting time to think about the relevant issues ought to be well conversant with. Actually some of them just plan for their expenses and mind little about where they are going. After reading this, you will agree with me that it’s not just a matter of traveling but having a wider knowledge of where you are going.

I got a chance of interacting with some tourists in Bwindi Impenetrable National park as we were tracking the mountain gorillas and what I found out was shocking. I asked a few of them why they opted to visit Uganda and not any other country. One of them was Vivian and she was from USA. She told me that she came to Uganda simply because her friends had suggested that they should spend their holiday in the pearl of Africa. Another tourist called Scot told me that he heard that Uganda is a wonderful country and so he was convinced to come and find out what is so special with it. The last person I interacted with told me that he had read about Iddi Amin, the late former president of Uganda who was a dictator and therefore decided to come and see how the country looks like. I asked him why he ended up in Bwindi searching for the rare mountain gorillas and he told me that as he booked with some tour company to visit Uganda, he was advised to extend his safari to Bwindi and look at the primates. Being the fact that he had never seen a gorilla before, he couldn’t hesitate to accept the offer.

Those are the few tourists I interviewed and basing on that, I came up with a conclusion that many come to this East African country with little or no knowledge of where they are going.

Have you ever asked yourself a question; how does it feel to go to a place where no one knows you and probably no one understands your culture? Well, that sounds dramatic but it applies to tourism. I t is advisable to research about your favorite destination before you travel. Before visiting any country, it is better you find out some few things about the people, country, climate and the acceptable cultural practices. This can help you fit in the new society without being inconvenienced hence making your stay a success.

You can get the travel information through various ways for example if you want to know about Uganda, you can read the various books written about it, search on the internet (http://www.adventureugandasafaris.com/travel-information.html),read magazines, watch tourism programs and many more. If you are well equipped with knowledge about a country you want to visit me, trust me your visit will be wonderful and less costly.
