Day 1: Transfer Kigali to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After you have landed into Kigali Airport, get a warm welcome from one of our professional driver guides who then will brief you on what your 3 days Rwanda tour is all about. Later, head off to the southern province of Rwanda to Nyungwe Forest National Park a home to 13 distinct primate species including among others chimpanzees, Rwenzori colobus, black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, baboons, owl-faced monkeys, Angola colobus, L’Hoest monkeys, Dent’s Mona monkeys, vervet monkeys, silver monkeys a mention but a few. You will spend about 4 to 5 hours drive from Kigali to Nyungwe Forest National Park and en-route, you will have lunch then continue to the park. Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk in Nyungwe Forest National Park
Get up early in the morning and enjoy your breakfast at your respective safari lodge. After, set off to Nyungwe Forest National Park headquarters to join other visitors for an early morning briefing on the set rules and regulations that you have to observe while on a search for chimpanzees in their natural habitat. Chimpanzee treks in this park are always conducted in habituated groups and once you find these creatures, your opportunity to explore more about their behavior, body gestures and also a chance for you to take as many photos as possible. While on chimpanzee trek, you also have a chance to encounter other wildlife species including different primates including L’Hoest monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, Dent’s Mona monkeys, acrobatic Angola colobus, vervet monkeys, olive baboons as well as varied bird species that make up a total of 310 in this park including the long-tailed bluebird, paradise flycatcher, the Great blue turaco, forest hornbills, the orange and white bird among others. After return to the lodge for relaxation and to have lunch. In the afternoon, head off for a rewarding canopy walk that will expose you to a variety of species that dwell in this tropical rainforest national park. After, return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at Gisakura Guesthouse (Basic), Nyungwe Hill Top View Hotel (Mid-range) or Nyungwe Forest Lodge (Luxury).
Day 3: Return to Kigali
Wake up early enough to have a hot cup of tea or coffee and after check out from your respective lodge. You will then head off to Butare museum and Nyanza Palance for a cultural tour. En-route, have lunch then proceed to Kigali while enjoying the stunning views of the countryside. If your flight is scheduled today, drive to Kigali Airport and this will mark the end of your 3 days Rwanda safari in Nyungwe Forest National Park.
