Just few days from now, Uganda is to host the Catholic religion leader, Pope Francis on 27th December 2015.On this note, Uganda is to gain popularity worldwide as there will be different international Television companies that will be airing out the whole event. This will market the country and tourism is one of the key sectors that are to gain from the country’s popularity. It should be noted that Uganda is one of the leading tourism destinations in Africa and Pope’s visit will act as a boost to the country’s popularity to the rest of the world hence attracting more tourists from different countries.Various activities will come to limelight like car hire activities which are less known to the rest of the world.
Apart from marketing the country to other countries, the pope is expected to travel with very many delegates and other religious leaders from different foreign countries. Some of them have never been to Uganda before and some have ever but might have not noticed the tourism beauty of this East African country. So the delegates will be attracted but the breathtaking atmosphere in the country and some will be enticed to tour some sites in the country. It is also expected that the Pope will visit Namugongo shrine where the Uganda martyrs were burnt alive by the then Buganda king simply because of their faith. He will lead a mass at the venue which presently has turned out as one of the leading cultural sites in the country were tourists go to have a live view of the place where the martyrs were murdered from. Different tour operators have already praised the pope for allowing to visit Uganda because he will not only bless Uganda’s tourism but also market the country’s splendid attractions to the rest of the world. Therefore they expect the country to host a higher number of visitors next year especially cultural and religion lovers.
The pope is expected to be in the country for 48 hours and he will depart on Sunday 29th of December. The little time he will be in this Pearl of Africa is enough to change the dynamics of tourism and also market the country to other countries that never knew the beauty and adventurous tourism fraternities found in Uganda.
