4 Days Mgahinga Gorilla Tour and Golden Monkey Trekking Safari:
The 4 Days Mgahinga Gorilla Tour is a short Uganda itinerary and is designed to allow you explore Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. This tour itinerary encompasses two exceptional primate adventures that is gorilla trekking and golden monkey tracking. On each the two primate experiences, you stand a chance to enjoy up close and personal encounter with Mgahinga’s distinct species, especially mountain gorillas and golden monkeys.
Embarking on gorilla trekking adventure, you will be exploring the only habituated gorilla group in Mgahinga that is Nyakagezi gorilla family group. The actual golden monkey trek will also involve searching on foot the already habituated troops of golden monkeys in the wild. Each of these two primate adventure guarantee you an hour of up close and personal encounter with your favorite apes in their natural habitat.
As per this itinerary, your trip will begin with departure from Kampala to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park where you will have the best of gorilla trekking and golden monkey tracking. Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is situated in Kisoro district, Southwestern Uganda and getting there by road takes about 9-10 hours’ drive via an enriching tourist route.

Detailed Itinerary – 4 Days Mgahinga Gorilla Tour:
Day 1: Pick up at the hotel in Kampala & drive to Mgahinga National Park.
This day is mainly dedicated for your pick up and transfer to your destination which is Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. You will be meeting your driver or safari guide after you have had the best of your cup of tea or coffee. On meeting the driver or safari guide, ensure that all your property is packed in the car.
Once you have boarded and everything you require on your trip has been packed, you will set off from your hotel in Kampala to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
You will take the Kampala-Masaka-Mbarara-Kisoro route which is approximately 9-10 hours’ drive but en-route, you will be making a stopover at the Equator crossing for photography and leg stretching then Igongo Cultural Village for lunch break.
From Igongo, proceed to your destination where the two experiences will be enjoyed that is mountain gorilla and golden monkey trekking. As you navigate via the Southwestern side of Uganda, do not miss to enjoy the breathtaking sceneries in the countryside. On arrival at Mgahinga National Park, check in your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga starting from Ntebeko.
Leave your respective accommodation for briefing session where you will get to learn about the different gorilla trekking regulations. The briefing session will be conducted at Ntebeko area where the park official will assign to you an experienced park ranger guide.
After the briefing session, you will begin your actual adventure for a search for Nyakagezi gorilla group. It will be 2-6 guided trek through Mgahinga National Park lush forest but the length of the trek will depend on your speed of walking.
On locating Nyakagezi group, you will be allowed to spend a maximum of an hour for photography and for you to have a face-to-face encounter with the rare mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.
As you interact with mountain gorillas, you will keep a distance of 8-10 meters. Once you are done exploring the behaviors of gorillas, you will be accompanied back to where you began your trek, get the certificate then connect to the lodge for relaxation.

Day 3: Golden monkey tracking in Mgahinga National Park.
Enjoy a hefty breakfast and after, you will be expected at Ntebeko area for briefing about golden monkey tracking rules. During the briefing, the park guide will be allocated to lead you on a search for golden monkeys. The whole adventure may go for 2-5 hours and this is inclusive of an hour for magical encounter and photography.
After the up close and personal encounter with golden monkeys, begin trekking back with the park ranger guide accompanying you all through. Once you reach to where your trek began, meet the driver for transfer to the lodge for relaxation.

Day 4: Departure from Mgahinga National Park.
At leisure, you will have a hot cup of tea/coffee at the comfort of your hotel or lodge and after, check out. At around 8:00am, you will be leaving Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for Kampala/Entebbe and en-route journey covers another phase of photography at the Equator crossing.
