Enjoying the cool breeze on the shores of Lake Victoria

Shared by three countries; Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania, Lake Victoria is the largest tropical lake in the whole world and undoubtedly the best fresh water body one can ever visit. Its fresh waters are magnificently providing both a living to the local people near it and also offer the best scenery for tourism. It is estimated to cover a surface area of 69,485 square kilometers making it the largest lake in Africa by area. Lake Victoria gets its waters mainly from the rainfall and from the numerous streams which feed it all the time like the Akagera River. These bring in the fresh waters into the lake allowing it to have a steady flow of fresh waters throughout the year. However, it also feeds the great River Nile which is the longest River in the world. This means that Lake Victoria is an exceptional water body with a wide surface area enough to feed the longest river in the world with water.

However, there is something special with this great lake. Its shores give the best atmosphere for relaxing. Actually many investors found it the best spot to put up beaches where people can go and kill their stress off. Today especially in Uganda the lake has over 7 beaches established around it for people to go and enjoy the breathtaking atmosphere. Sitting near its waters in the evening catching some glance at the splendid views of unending water surface and different types of birds flying above is a life-changing experience. Many tourists on their safari to Uganda visit this lake specifically to have a different feeling of life away from the noisy towns full of congestion and stressing factors. On weekends, most families near the lake go there to relax and they get a chance to meet, greet and chat with different people from different families.

Apart from just sitting and relaxing at the shores of Lake Victoria, there are other adventurous activities one can enjoy while there;-
Bird watching is one of them; – On the shores of the lake, there is an estimated collection of 350 bird species including those that cannot be found elsewhere in the world. These fly over and around the shores of the lake making it easier for someone to have a glance at them. For those that are small to be viewed with necked eyes, binoculars can be used so that one does not miss out on having a clearer view.

Boat rides is another adventurous activity one should expect while on the shores of Lake Victoria. It doesn’t matter which beach you have visited because all of them have good and well serviced boats of different types ready to be used for riding. Going some miles on the fresh waters of Lake Victoria is a dream-come-true as one is exposed to a different feeling of life.

Also spot fishing on the lake can be rewarding especially as one catches some of the rare types of fish like tilapia. This can be done under the instruction of well trained people therefore a tourist should not mind about their safety while on water.
