COVID-19 PCR Test Requirements Are No Longer Needed For the Fully Vaccinated Travellers to Uganda

All fully vaccinated travelers entering to Uganda through the land borders no longer need the COVID-19 PCR test requirements. Yes, the government of Uganda through The Ministry of Health has stopped COVID-19 tests for the fully vaccinated travelers on entry into Uganda through the country’s land borders.

As of March 30 2022, the Health Minister, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng stated that it is no longer necessary to carry out COVID-19 tests at the land border points of entry. This is really great news for all travelers on Uganda safaris. The new measures require that fully vaccinated travelers on entry into Uganda through the land border don’t need to present a negative coronavirus certificate.

International travel restrictions

All fully vaccinated travelers accessing Uganda through the land borders won’t be required to provide a negative coronavirus PCR certificates. However, all passengers arriving at Entebbe International Airport (EBB) still require to present their negative PCR tests taken at least not over 72 hours’ prior travel.

A negative PCR certificate issued with 72 hours is still required for passengers departing Uganda through Entebbe International Airport (EBB) with exemption of those transiting within the airport. The other category exempted from this are the children of 3 years. All arrivals at EBB shall undergo mandatory temperature screening.

Domestic restrictions

Restaurant and bar operators are required to provide proof of vaccination. Concerts and other social events can be conducted without any restrictions on capacity. Currently, all businesses have resumed but strict health protocols must be adhered to, to limit wide spread of corona virus.

Earlier in February, government also stopped mandatory COVID-19 testing at the main entry point in Entebbe. This was effective 16th February 2022 and applied to all inbound travelers at Entebbe International Airport on arrival.
