Busoga starts the hunt for Miss Tourism
For the past few years, Tourism has managed to merge as the leading export in Uganda making the country one of the leading destination in Africa. Its popularity comes with a lot of efforts from the operators and the government which include continuous marketing and awareness. One of the marketing tools being used today is electing of Miss Tourism who markets the country’s attractive fraternities to the rest of the world. For the first time, Busoga one of the biggest ethnic group in the country has decided to elect its own Miss Tourism who will market the kingdom’s attractions not only within the country but around the globe. The hunt for Busoga’s Miss Tourism was launched last Saturday in the kingdom’s capital city Jinja at the event which was attended by different delegates from the government including the Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Rebecca Kadaaga.
Busoga just like other kingdoms has got different thrilling cultural sites, tourism fraternities and a unique natural environment. Not forgetting that the source of River Nile is found in this culturally rich kingdom in Jinja. In the past, the kingdom has been missing out on revenue from visitors who enter it as they tour its different sites due to low marketing but starting from January this year, the Kingdom though the Speaker of Parliament who comes from this ethnic setting launched a campaign aimed at promoting the different cultural sites and other magnificent sceneries.
Uganda has over 45 ethnic tribes with Buganda being the largest and Busoga the Third largest. This has enabled the country to receive very many tourists from different countries who come to explore more about the untouched cultural settings which are unique and difficult to find in other countries. Each tribe or Kingdom has its own cultural beliefs which differentiate it from others and this makes a cultural safari to this East African country a lifetime experience full of amazing experiences. Trust me; a walk through some of the villages in Uganda is a special experience which will expose you the true lifestyle of a real African man. You will witness how the people survive with no money and how they build their homesteads using the local materials.
Busoga is one of the best destinations in the country you can visit in case you are interested in knowing the different cultural aspects which make Ugandans different from other Africans on the continent. By electing Miss Tourism, the Kingdom’s officials believe that more people will be encouraged to visit as the adventure gospel aimed at marketing the kingdom is spread in different countries.
