As you may realize, Bwindi is the leading tourism destination in Uganda because it is estimated to host the highest number of visitors annually. But one may wonder why it has continuously gained attention from various people both nationals and foreigners. Well, the presence of rare mountain gorillas in the park is the number one reason for this and it well explains why visitors opt for this adventurous national park leaving out others. According to 2013 report, Bwindi has half of the total population of mountain gorillas in the world and in case you want to have a lifetime tracking experience on your Uganda safari, this is the best destination on earth.
With half of the world’s total population of the primates, Bwindi has been blessed with a new baby gorilla and this has increased the population. It was on Wednesday this week when the areas of Buhoma, Habinya gorilla family found in the north of Bwindi got happiness as it welcomed a new member in the family. On this day, the environment in the rainforests of the park especially in the north changed as all the family members including the male silverbacks were all in jolly moods following the birth of another member. Though hard to notice, the celebration was interesting and magnificent and lucky tourists who were trekking at that time had a chance of witnessing the happiness of these great apes. It is not yet clear which name is going to be given to this female gorilla which came at the time when the officials at the park including conservationists were in need of young gorillas to keep the lineage of the apes continuous.
Sometimes, it becomes tricky to save a young gorilla in the wilderness where there are other wild animals which can kill it and this time around the conservationists and the guides hard to rush and save the young gorillas from danger. They had to put all measures in place to see that it is safe together with its mother and put in areas safe from any attack that can affect its health or even lead to its death. Today, the young ape was seen all jolly as it played with its mother and other gorillas from the same family all wanting to have some time with the newest member of the group.
Uganda is one of the leading tourism destinations in Africa and the presence of the hard-to find mountain gorillas has greatly contributed to this achievement. These primates can be found in Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga national parks all found in western Uganda.
