Are Rental Cars in Uganda Pet-Friendly

In most cases, you will be required to pay extra fees (for cleaning) or at least be in charge of the car’s hygiene. Therefore make sure that you are entirely responsible for cleaning and removing pet hair or poop left on seats.

Some Car Rental Companies apply flat cleaning fees, whether pet hair is visible or not and could be quite expensive hence travellers are advised to first get the required information in advance prior to booking for the vehicle. Another important rule that Agencies impose is that pets should be put in car carriers, as a way of maintaining cars in the same condition or any pet-related damages such as scratching. This policy is also applied for the safety of pets when moving in a car where luggage may be rolling around.

Solo travellers have nothing to worry about because any car suits their Uganda Road trip while those travelling as a group or family (including children) will need to be more cautious. If you have plans of travelling with your pet, make sure that the car has ample space for the number of pets you need and keep in mind the following important tips;

• Care and caution have to be applied when getting the pet in and out of the vehicle to avoid causing damages to its paintwork.
• Place a blanket or removable protector on car seats to keep away any excess pet hairs from getting on the seats.
• Rental Cars have to be thoroughly vacuumed or cleaned after travelling/using with pets because some travellers are allergic to pet hair.
• Bigger pets (especially dogs) have to be carefully strapped in a safe place in the carrier, crate or boot while the smaller ones should be positioned in a suitable and comfortable transportation box, for their own safety.
• The Rental Car has to always smell fresh for the next use (especially if it was previously used by clients travelling with pets).

On a general note, travellers are recommended to read Company policies, since pet-friendly policies always differ from Company to Company. These policies also differ in different countries, as if you plan to drive one way and drop the car in another country, you might need to read up all sets of Car rental guidelines.

Last but not least, always treat the Rental Car as you would treat your own car, hence care has to be applied when travelling with pets.
