The 4 Days Rwanda Gorillas and Mt Bisoke combines mountain gorilla trekking and volcano mountain hiking. The two thrilling experiences of this short Rwanda safari holiday package will be enjoyed in the lush Volcanoes National Park. Gorilla trekking as per this itinerary will involve on foot search for the habituated gorilla family in the jungles of Volcanoes National Park.
On the gorilla trek, expect to spend an hour face-to-face with mountain gorillas- the Eastern gorilla. This primate adventure will be done with the presence of the park ranger guide. At Volcanoes National Park, expect to explore any of the 12 habituated gorilla groups including Hirwa, Ugenda, Sabyinyo, Susa A, Susa B, Kwitonda, Pablo, Titus, Amahoro, and Umubano.
Mt. Bisoke’s hiking adventure involves conquering the 3711-meter Bisoke Volcano, one of the 8 chain volcanoes. Bisoke Volcano is known for its scenic Crater which lies on its summits. Bisoke (Visoke) is among the five Virunga volcanoes in Volcanoes National Park. This park is found in Northwestern Rwanda and is among the oldest parks to be established on the African continent.
Volcanoes National Park was established in 1925 and occupies a surface area of 160 sq. km. Volcanoes National Park is where mountain gorillas in Rwanda will be trekked and a maximum of 8 guests will visit one habituated gorilla family. You can access Volcanoes National Park from the heart of Kigali within a 2-3 hours’ drive.

Day 1: Pick up & drive to Volcanoes National Park
Get up early in the morning and enjoy a hefty breakfast at your respective lodge. After, you will leave the hotel for the actual 4 days Rwanda gorillas and Mt Bisoke road trip. First, you will set off from the hotel promises for you to enjoy a short city tour in Kigali which will include visiting the Kigali genocide memorial, craft market, and other historical sites.
After 1-2 hour of exploring Kigali capital, you will depart for Volcanoes National Park. This will run for 2-3 hours and on arrival, you will go straight to the lodge to check in. Have a great time at the lodge, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking & Iby’Iwacu cultural tour
Wake up early to make preparations for your long day gorilla trek. Have a delicious cup of tea/coffee and then transfer to Kinigi to meet Volcanoes National Park official. It will be at Kinigi where you will have a briefing on guidelines for gorilla trekking.
The actual day gorilla trek with mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park will start at around 8:00 am. The trek will comprise 8 visitors with one park ranger guide. You will navigate via the lush forest and steep slopes. This will go for 2-6 hours which includes an hour for up close and personal encounter with Rwanda gorillas in the wild.
After the magical encounter and photography session, get back and relax at the lodge. In the evening/late afternoon, you will transfer to Iby’Iwacu cultural village to have a close interaction with locals. At Iby’Iwacu, expect to enjoy great entertainment from locals and learn more about the distinct cultures as well as traditions of Rwandese.

Day 3: Hike to the summits of Mt. Bisoke
Early in the morning, you will be provided with a delicious cup of tea or coffee. After the breakfast, you will set off for the morning briefing. Today, the main activity will be hiking to and from Bisoke Volcano in Volcanoes National Park Rwanda. At the summit, you will explore the beautiful Crater Lake, take pictures, and then walk back.

Day 4: Departure
